This study shows that both children and adults with 16p11.2 deletions or duplications process social information differently at the brain level (even when watching simple videos), helping families understand that social challenges have a biological basis and that sharing this information with clinicians can support more personalized social, communication, and therapy approaches rather than assuming a child is “not paying attention” or “not interested.”
