Global prevalence of autism: A systematic review update.

This global review shows that about 1 in 100 children worldwide are now identified as autistic—largely due to better awareness and diagnosis rather than a sudden change in biology—helping families affected by 16p11.2 syndromes understand that autism is common, widely recognized, and increasingly supported, and that their child’s needs are part of a larger global effort to improve identification, services, and inclusion.
