This study explains that a specific gene (LAT) within the distal 16p11.2 (BP2–BP3) region plays an important role in brain growth and head size—and that when distal and proximal 16p11.2 changes occur together, effects can be more severe—helping families understand why differences in head size or development happen and use this knowledge to support careful growth monitoring and more personalized genetic counseling.
