This study helps families understand the wide range of challenges that children and adults with the 16p11.2 proximal duplication may experience, including that while autism affects about 1 in 5 children with this duplication, many carriers also face intellectual disability, motor delays, ADHD, and anxiety—and symptoms can vary greatly from person to person.
