Hyperactivity and male-specific sleep deficits in the 16p11.2 deletion mouse model of autism.
All,
This mouse study found that male mice with the 16p11.2 deletion showed significant sleep problems—spending more time awake and less time in deep sleep—along with hyperactivity in both males and females, suggesting this genetic change may help explain the sleep difficulties and attention challenges many children with 16p11.2 deletion experience.
