This review and case report suggest that people with a 16p11.2 duplication can sometimes develop psychosis—often involving symptoms like hearing voices or paranoid thoughts—but that these experiences are still poorly described, helping families and clinicians recognize the need for early mental health screening, careful monitoring in adolescence and adulthood, and thoughtful discussion of psychiatric treatment options when concerning symptoms appear.
