Behavioral abnormalities and circuit defects in the basal ganglia of a mouse model of 16p11.2 deletion syndrome.
All,
This mouse study found that the 16p11.2 deletion causes abnormalities in brain circuits controlling movement and behavior—including hyperactivity, repetitive circling, and a striking inability to tune out repeated stimuli—suggesting these brain wiring differences may help explain similar behaviors seen in people with the deletion.
