For families affected by 16p11.2 syndromes, this study is reassuring because it shows that a bovine aortic arch seen on prenatal ultrasound is usually just a harmless anatomical variation, rarely linked to genetic conditions on its own, and most often associated with healthy outcomes after birth unless other significant abnormalities are also present.
