Pervasive alterations of intra-axonal volume and network organization in young children with a 16p11.2 deletion.

Proximal Deletion,

All,

This study found that young children (ages 2–8) with a 16p11.2 deletion show early and widespread differences in brain white matter connectivity—specifically in the volume of nerve fibers—which may help explain brain network changes related to language, movement, and social-emotional development seen in children with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
