For families affected by 16p11.2 genetic syndromes, this review explains that strokes around the time of birth are uncommon but important causes of later movement differences and seizures, often first noticed through newborn seizures or later developmental signs, and while exact prevention is not yet possible, early recognition and long‑term follow‑up are key to supporting the best possible outcomes.
