The breath shape controls intonation of mouse vocalizations.
All,
This study shows that vocal sounds are shaped not only by the voice box but also by how breathing is controlled by the brainstem, helping families affected by 16p11.2 syndromes understand why early differences in crying, breath control, or speech rhythm may occur and why therapies that support breath–voice coordination (such as motor‑speech and respiratory‑speech approaches) can be especially important for communication development.
