This study suggests that differences in how infants respond to sensory experiences (being overly sensitive or under‑responsive) can shape early fear and later autism‑related traits, highlighting why paying attention to early sensory responses—common in children with 16p11.2—may help families and providers better understand and support a child’s emotional and social development from a very young age.
