Understanding the Genetics of Early-Onset Obesity in a Cohort of Children From Qatar.
All,
This study shows that a meaningful portion of children with very early‑onset obesity have a clear genetic cause in appetite‑control pathways (like MC4R and SH2B1, which are relevant to some 16p11.2 deletions), helping families understand that early and severe weight gain can be biologically driven and that genetic testing can open the door to targeted treatments and more personalized care rather than relying on lifestyle changes alone.
